Behind every great legacy is a story. The story of Yamamoto Genetics is one of two extraordinary men, Shogo Takeda and Gary Yamamoto, whose relationship went far beyond the Wagyu cattle industry.

Shogo Takeda was a pioneer in bringing exceptional Japanese Black Wagyu genetics to the United States. His dedication to preserving and developing these remarkable bloodlines helped establish the foundation for generations of Wagyu breeding in America.

But the relationship between Takeda and Yamamoto was about much more than cattle.

Mr. Takeda did not have a son, and Gary had lost his father. Through their shared Japanese heritage, mutual respect, and appreciation for excellence, the two men developed a meaningful personal connection.

What began as a shared interest in Wagyu cattle became a relationship built on trust and a special bond between two men at different stages of their lives.

When the time came for Mr. Takeda to part with his American Wagyu herd, Gary Yamamoto acquired the original Takeda America herd in its entirety.

It was not simply the purchase of cattle. It was the continuation of a legacy.
